B - E - L - I - E - V - E

I took this just before Christmas 2011. Downtown Seattle Santa, if you can't spot him, is in the background, just handed this young lady a candy cane and message. I was dying to ask her what it said. What do you think it said? A good story starter for those that like to write.

Bulb revisited

I did a version of this a few years back. I thought I would revisit this and see how much I could get done in camera. I was successful in lighting the bulb in camera and not having to play in Photoshop with the lighting.

Thats what I'm talkin about

Jeff, a 13 year old 8th grade at Illahee Middle school in Federal Way, Wa makes a 37 yard field goal. That is unheard of at this age. Way to go Jeff. I love the intense looks from the coaches and players on the sidelines!!

Fenway Park

A dream since I was a kid. To see a game in Fenway Park in Boston. This was awesome. I lost all my images but one card in Boston and one card in Philly. Both were inside the ball parks. This was one of my favorites. Fisheye behind home plate.

Due date Today

Just about one year later, Jay and Medina are expecting any day now. Today is the due date.

The last week Seattle has had their summer. I am sure they are more than ready for Kadie to be born.

Summer has arrived

Lit with 2 speed lights. One directly below the bottles. One directly behind the bottles. Bottom light set at 1/4 power and 3 feet from subject.
Back light set at 1/32 and is about 4 inches behind the bottles
Bottles were sitting on plexiglass. 3 reflectors were used. one on either side to rim the the bottles and one on top to give the caps a glow.

Strobist one light

How did I do this?

One speed light set at low power. 1/32 power.

I put light under the bottles, about 2 feet below. I placed the bottles on plexiglass which was held up by my daughters chairs. Her table was behind to steer the light upward. I had foam reflectors on either side again to point the light up and reflect back to the edge of the bottles and I held one across the top as well. I had a black cloth for the background.

ISO 800~~1/100~~f6.3

I will try this again tomorrow. I will also use a different setup. Stay tuned.

Comments welcome

Beach games

Vantage point: the Beach House. Great view of all the surfers.

SILK

I have always wanted to take a shot like this. Who thunk I would do in the the bright sunlight of Hawaii? Well here it is. Manual exposure, Duh, f 32, ISO 80, 50MM at 1 second not on a traditional tripod, but sitting on a rock and set at 2 second self timer. It was taken in a realativly shady area but at 4pm-ish. It was not taken in the outback but rather the Hilton resort.

Surfer Dude

This was taken this morning about 7:30 am Hawaii time. Pentax k5, Tamron 70-200 racked all the way out at 200mm. Added a 2x doubler to make it 400mm. Surfer was about 300 yards off shore. I also cropped in post, about 1/2.

Our christmas card....I highly doubt it

The first bee sting

This was taken at Salt Pond with my new Pentax Optio WG-1. I got it primarily for underwater use. This image was taken on 7/18 but figured I would re-date it to remind us that she got her first bee sting yesterday 7/17

4th of July--better late than never

Here is a fourth of July shot that I took. I did not have time to post before I left town so I am getting around to it now.

The Lady

A very hot humid day. Visibility was poor at best but at least we could see the Lady from the park.

Brooklyn Bridge

New York on a hot and humid day. The rain came down soon after this shot was taken. It rained enough to cancel the Baseball game. Jeter will have to wait at least one more day for his 3000 hit.
